New regulation protecting standing workers comes into force: the so-called "Chair Law"
Carlos Seade Abbud

On July 17, 2025, the “Chair Law” was published, a new regulation that requires workplaces in sectors such as commerce, services, and industry to provide adequate rest conditions for employees who work standing up. Companies must identify workers who perform tasks while standing, assess their level of risk, and provide appropriate chairs when possible. They must also implement preventive measures and inform staff about the associated risks. This regulation aims to improve occupational health and reduce physical harm caused by prolonged standing.
